POINT PLEASANT — This weekend, the West Virginia State Farm Museum is celebrating the season with its Annual Country Fall Festival.
The event is from 9-5 p.m., Oct. 5-6 at the museum located directly across from the Mason County Fairgrounds. There is no admission fee to the festival and parking is free.
On both Saturday and Sunday, there will be an Antique Gas Engine Show and Antique Bottle Show as well as a Gravely Swap Meet - the latter of which includes a visit from a gentleman from Spencer who brings all things (and parts) that any Gravely aficionado could need.
Also on Saturday and Sunday, the annual Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS) Quilt Show will be on display in the Country Kitchen which will be open both days. This year’s show is being hosted by the Camp Conley CEOS Club. In addition, there will be apple butter and molasses being made, and sold, on both days of the festival.
At 1 p.m. on Saturday only is the Antique Tractor Pull which will take place on the pull track near the museum’s sawmill.
At 9 a.m. on Sunday only, is the morning church service in the museum’s log church. At 1:30 p.m. on Sunday only is a gospel sing.
Money generated at the Country Fall Festival stays at the farm museum and helps fund its operating costs. Buildings of historical value have been moved and rebuilt on the grounds of the museum. Visitors will find log cabins and an early farmhouse, an operational 19th century blacksmith shop, turn-of-the-century doctor’s and newspaper offices, the first Lutheran Church west of the Allegheny Mountains, and more.
The 2013 Miss Country Fall Festival Pageant was held a few weeks prior to the festival. Those who claimed the top Miss and Teen titles this year were Lyndie Layton, 17, 2013 Miss Country Fall Festival Queen; and Brittany Gillam, 15, 2013 Teen Miss Country Fall Festival Queen.
During the children’s pageant, a total of three winners were selected 2013 royalty. They include Zoey Firman, Little Miss Country Fall Festival Queen; Rylyn Bielinski, Young Miss Country Fall Festival Queen; and Abby VanSickle, Junior Miss Country Fall Festival Queen.
The Wee Miss Country Fall Festival Queen is Serenity Starkey and Tiny Miss Country Fall Festival Queen is Zoie Whittington.
Pageant royalty will be attending various events at the festival this weekend.
