POINT PLEASANT — If you have an old computer that is too old to use or is broken and you are not sure what to do with it, don’t throw it away, recycle it.

The Point Pleasant America in Bloom Organization is working to help the community to become more aware of how to recycle, as well as ways in which everyone in the area can help.

The group is taking any brand of used computers, old or broken, in addition to any computer equipment that includes, monitors, printers, scanners, external and internal hard drives, keyboards, mice, speakers, cords, cables and software.

Computer equipment can be dropped off at the Goodwill store in Point Pleasant.

Goodwill Industries is working with Dell in a new program called RECONNECT, to recycle computers to keep the planet greener, as well as help create jobs.

If you have other items that you would like to recycle, including paper, tin, cardboard and aluminum, there is only one recycle bin in Point Pleasant. It is located at the Trinity United Methodist Church parking lot.

The Mason County Recycling Center, located on Fairground Road, is hoping that more business in the area will be willing to allow a recycle bin at their facility. If interested, contact the recycling center at 304-675-7855.

The organization also encourages the community residents to change the daily products they use by finding out if the products are made from recycled materials. Many cleaning products are environmentally friendly.
