POINT PLEASANT — The eighth annual Mason County Area Community Christmas Cantata will be presented this weekend. Performances will be at Main Street Baptist Church at 7 p.m. both this Saturday and Sunday.
This year’s cantata is “Hope of the Broken World” and is arranged and orchestrated by David Clydesdale. A cantata is a series of songs with narration which tells a story. At Christmas, of course, the cantata tells the story of Christ’s birth in a new and unique way.
This year there are 33 singers from 17 different area churches, making this truly a multi-denominational effort. Soloists include Karyn Bennett, Randy Parsons, Dee Harbrecht, Brandon Sweeney, Emily Casto, Anna Maria Butler, Robert Fulton, and Marketta Crum. The narrators are Dennis Brumfield and Brandy Barkey-Sweeney.
No admission is charged, nor offering taken. However, there will be a collection box at the door to receive donations for the Mason County Samaritan Fund. Administered by the Mason County Ministerial Association, this fund is used to help people who need assistance throughout the year with utility bills, emergencies, and other needs.
Main Street Baptist is located at the corner of 11th and Main Street in Point Pleasant. There is plenty of parking, and a nursery will be provided both evenings.
