Board of education approves agenda items

POINT PLEASANT —The Mason County Board of Education recently met to approve the following agenda items.

Accepted the resignation of Julie Bibbee, grade five teacher, Roosevelt Elementary, effective June 30, 2016, due to retirement. Approved the employment of Lori Braden, LD/BD/MI/AU teacher, Point Pleasant Junior/Senior High, effective Dec. 10, county will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Larry Marr, substitute teacher, effective 2015-16 school year, county will be the funding source.

Accepted the resignation of Mona Legg, secretary/accountant, Central Office, effective June 30, 2016, due to retirement. Approved the employment of Sherry Pullin, tutor, Title I/interventionist, Ashton Elementary, effective Dec. 10, Title I will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Philip Hoffman, JV baseball coach, Wahama Junior/Senior High, effective 2015-16 school year, county will be the funding source. Approved the placement of Wesley Bumgarner and Bradley Lilly, athletic assistants, Wahama Junior/Senior High, effective 2015-16 school year, these are unpaid positions. Approved the placement of James Casto, Christopher Freeman, and Scott Goldsberry, athletic assistants, Point Pleasant Junior/Senior High, for the 2015-16 school year, these are unpaid positions.

Approved the ratification of orders issued, transfers, and supplements for total amount of $300,855.92.

Present at this meeting were Board Members Greg Fowler, Tom Nunnery, Jared Billings, Dale Shobe, Paul Sayre.

This week, the Board also met for a special meeting consisting for LSIC presentations from the Mason County Career Center, Point Pleasant Junior/Senior High School, Mason County School for Success, Point Pleasant Intermediate School, Point Pleasant Primary School, Hannan Junior/Senior High School, Ashton Elementary, New Haven Elementary, Leon Elementary, Beale Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary and Wahama Junior/Senior High School.

The next regular business meeting is at 6 p.m., Tuesday at the Mason County Career Center/Hartley Building.
