‘Bicycle Rodeo’ headed to farm museum

The Kountry Kritters 4-H Club, St. Mary’s Transportation Injury Prevention Safety Program (TIPS) and SMMC Trauma Services, and the Huntington Highway Safety Program are hosting a Bicycle Rodeo to remind parents and youngsters of the importance of proper bicycle handling, etiquette, and safety measures.

The event is scheduled for this Saturday, June 14, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Virginia State Farm Museum located at 1458 Fairground Road in Point Pleasant.

Volunteers from the Bend Area Sprocket Spinners Bicycle Club will be on hand to help inspect bicycles to make sure they are in tip-top condition for riding during upcoming warm weather. There will also be an instructional riding course designed to improve the maneuvering skills of the youngsters.

There will be door prizes and light refreshments for participants.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own bicycle to the event.
