A discussion on the possible consolidation of Leon Elementary and Buffalo Elementary School in Putnam County resulted in a standing-room-only crowd at Tuesday’s special meeting of the Mason County Board of Education. The school board went into executive session during which they decided not to move ahead with the plan; board president Randy Searls cited, among other things, a shortage of information on the logistics of the consolidation. The Point Pleasant Register will have the complete story about what transpired at the meeting in Thursday’s print edition and online at www.mydailyregister.com. Pictured inside the board of education meeting room in the foreground are Leon Elementary Second Grade Teacher Beverly Pickens and Sixth Grade Teacher Blair Bumgarner. Also, many gathered outside prior to the meeting to discuss their feelings on the possible consolidation.
