Kristopher Michael Knox, age and address unreported, entered a guilty plea to forgery as well as breaking and entering in Mason County Circuit Court this week. Judge David W. Nibert sentenced Knox to the custody of the West Virginia Division of Corrections for not less than one nor more than 10 years. Knox was given credit for 126 days served. His conviction date is Oct. 31 as is his sentence date with an effective sentence date of June 28. Knox was also ordered to pay court costs.

Steven R. Trent, age and address unreported, entered a guilty plea to the felony offense of manufacture a controlled substance and the misdemeanor offense of possession of a controlled substance. If Trent successfully completes a 12-month probationary period under supervision from the Probation Department of Mason County, the state will move the court to dismiss the felony offense and the misdemeanor offense will stand. If Trent is revoked from the Probation Department prior to completion of the probationary period, or violates the terms of the plea agreement or his bond, the felony charge will stand and the misdemeanor charge will be dismissed.
