Cash, drugs seized at sobriety check point

POINT PLEASANT —A sobriety check point in the 400 block of Viand St. Saturday night resulted in citations being issued along with $1,131 in cash as well as drugs being seized. In addition, 594 motorists entered the check point and were stopped and checked for impaired driving. The Point Pleasant Police Department (PPPD) along with the Mason County Sheriff’s Department conducted the sobriety checkpoint. Officers with the PPPD state it will be continuing its efforts to decrease the number of citizens killed or injured as a result of drunk drivers and hopefully deter those possibly contemplating the “poor decision” to drink and drive. For additional information on the prevention of drunk driving, contact Lt. Matt Taylor of the PPPD, 304-675-1104.
