POINT PLEASANT — This weekend, the West Virginia State Farm Museum will host its annual Spring Gas and Steam Engine Show.

This free event takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the museum just north of Point Pleasant.

On both days, visitors can see various gas and steam engines, a demonstration of the museum’s sawmill, and visit historic buildings and displays.

Special features will include an “Off the Farm Tractor Pull” staring at 1 p.m. Saturday on the museum’s grounds. Then on Sunday, a special church service will take place at 9 a.m. at the old log church, also on the grounds.

Sunday will also feature a gospel sing that starts at 1:30 p.m. and will feature performances by Living Proof, Brian and Family Connection, Jason Schultz, Brandon Toler and New Salvation.

In addition, the country kitchen and country store are open all weekend.

This is one of the first events of the year for the farm museum, which celebrates the history and culture of the area. On the grounds are buildings of historical value that have been moved and rebuilt on the property across from the Mason County Fairgrounds.

Visitors will also find log cabins and an early farmhouse, an operational 19th century blacksmith shop, turn-of-the-century doctor’s and newspaper offices, the first Lutheran Church west of the Allegheny Mountains, and more.
