BIDWELL — Gallia County sheriff’s deputies are currently searching for two individuals who reportedly broke into the Dollar General store in Bidwell early Sunday morning and stole a safe and a large amount of cash from the business.
According to a report filed with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on December 1, two males entered the Dollar General store on Ohio 160 in Bidwell after throwing a rock through the glass of the front door.
After breaking the glass, the males, dressed in camouflage, masks and gloves, reportedly jumped through the door and went to the front check-out area. The perpetrators then subsequently removed a safe from under the counter and threw it through the front door and onto the front sidewalk.
The safe reportedly contained over $10,000 in deposits from Friday and Saturday transactions at the store.
Further information about this case will be released as this is made available by investigators.
A second break-in is also currently being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
This incident occurred on Thanksgiving Day at the Gallia County Landfill on Roush Hollow Road.
Reportedly, an employee of the landfill was advised by his supervisor to respond to an alarm call around 7:30 p.m. last Thursday, and, upon arrival, the employee found the gates of the landfill open. He subsequently checked the garage and the lock was cut off the side door.
Deputies were later called to the scene and after searching the building, they discovered that tools in the garage had been moved and had been prepped to be taken; however, the employee was unable to report whether any items had actually be stolen from the garage.
The weigh station at the landfill was also reportedly broken into last Thursday after suspects pried a rear window of the building out. A flat screen television was reportedly taken from the office in the building.
This case also remains under investigation.
