POINT PLEASANT — A local woman has written a religious novel meant to transport readers back in time and this Saturday she will be having a book signing.

Candace Bonecutter of Point Pleasant, is the author of “Hidden Star: The Story of Esther, Queen of Persia.” It is her first novel and was written while she pursued a graduate degree in reading from Fairmont State University. She’ll be signing copies of her book from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Willa’s Bible Book Store.

According to Bonecutter, her novel transports readers back in time to the Persian Empire at its height. The novel parallels the biblical story of Esther while interweaving historically accurate information with unique and lively characters.

“You experience every touch, smell, taste, noise, and sight along with Esther as she rises form the streets of Shushan to the royal city’s palace,” Bonecutter said. “Esther’s life is full of drama, but nothing compares to the role she must play when her people’s existence is threatened from within the palace walls.”

Bonecutter stays active in leading small group Bible studies for young adult women.

Copies of the book are now available at Willa’s Bible Book Store and the Point Pleasant River Museum.
