A Wheelersburg man has been arrested on an indictment warrant involving a sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl. Shannon L. Horsley, 45, of Taylor Dutiel Road, is being held without bond and will appear in Scioto County Common Pleas Court at a later date.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office was contacted by Southern Ohio Medical Center on June 24, 2014, stating they had a 12-year-old female who had been sexually assaulted. Donini said a deputy responded to the hospital which resulted in a report being filed and forwarded to a detective for an investigation. A sexual assault kit was collected and sent to BCI&I for testing.
Donini said during the ongoing investigation detectives were able to get a search warrant for the suspects residence and for his DNA, that was sent to BCI&I for testing which led to charges being presented to the Scioto County grand jury which resulted in an indictment warrant being issued on Monday. Detectives were able to arrest the suspect, Shannon Horsley, at his home without incident on Tuesday.
Scioto County Sheriff’s Captain David Hall said Horsley is facing five counts of rape, felonies of the first degree.
