RIO GRANDE, Ohio — After a record-breaking performance against Kentucky Chrisitan, the University of Rio Grande women’s soccer team should be full of confidence heading into Saturday evening’s matchup against the University of Northwestern Ohio which is set to take place at 5 p.m. on Evan E. Davis Field.

Head coach Callum Morris’ squad scored 10 goals in the first half of their match en route to a 16-0 victory over KCU on Wedensday evening.

The victory over the Knights resulted in quite a few milestones for the RedStorm, now 3-2 overall.

First and foremost, the 16 goals scored marked the most ever in a contest in program history. Sophomore forward Kasey Crow (Chillicothe, Ohio) notched two goals in the match and moved into a tie for second place all-time in most goals scored in Rio Grande women’s soccer history.

The RedStorm also saw four freshman notch their first career goals in the match. Carli Henman (Bellafontaine, Ohio), Carrie Mathes (Springboro, Ohio), Melissa Dickerson (Little Hocking, Ohio), and Brooke Keipper (Cincinnati, Ohio) all saw shots end up in the back of the net for the first time in their young collegiate careers.

Rio Grande is now led in points of the season by a duo of freshman in Laurel Amstutz (Yellow Springs, ohio) and Mathes with 10 and nine points, respectively.

Junior goalkeeper Allison Keeney (Cincinnati, Ohio) now has two shutouts on the season coming into the match against the Racers of UNOH. Keeney has yet to be pulled from a contest this season and has 28 saves to her credit.

Northwestern Ohio is in its inaugural year of women’s soccer and is off to a great start at 4-2. The Racers are coming off of an impressive 7-1 win over Marian University on Tuesday night.

Sarah Huchet and Taryn Pardoe have scored half of UNOH’s 20 goals this season, with Huchet finding the back of the net six times and Pardoe scoring four markers. Pardoe also has a team-high five assists and Frida Bremer has aided on four scores.

Nadine Stonjek has seen the bulk of the time in goal. She’s recorded 18 saves, allowed six goals and has a .750 save percentage.

Live video of the match will be available at www.ihigh.com/redstorm beginning at 4:50 p.m.
