The Gallia Academy wrestling team captured the program’s seventh league title in school history Saturday afternoon at the 2014 Southeastern Ohio Athletic League championships held on the campus of Gallia Academy High School in Gallia County. The Blue Devils — who won three straight crowns from 2009 to 2011 — picked up their fourth SEOAL championship in six years and also had five grapplers come away with individual titles. GAHS second-year coach Scott Stanley was named SEOAL coach of the year, while junior Cole Tawney was named the 2014 Most Valuable Wrestler at the event. Complete details of the Blue Devils’ SEOAL championship will be available in the Tuesday sports editions of the Gallipolis Daily Tribune, Point Pleasant Register and The Daily Sentinel.
