Though it may not be on the same scale as Rockefeller Center, many still gathered around the New Haven City Building with that same spirit and sense of community for a tree lighting ceremony on Monday night. The ceremony included performances from the Wahama High School chorus, under the direction of Rachel Reynolds, and the Wahama High School Chamber Winds, under the direction of Darren Jackson, with selections including “O Christmas Tree,” “Greensleeves” and “Sleigh Ride.” Following the musical performances, spectators gathered around the tree and sang other holiday favorites, including “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” “Silent Night,” and “Jingle Bells.” Refreshments were also served following the ceremony.
