‘The Diplomats’ to perform

POINT PLEASANT — This weekend, a southern gospel musical group known as The Diplomats will be performing twice in Mason County.

Locals will have the chance to see The Diplomats at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, at the Point Pleasant High School auditorium, or at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, at the Point of Faith Church, located at 7764 Ripley Road, across the road from Roosevelt Elementary School. The concerts will be free, although a love offering will be taken.

Members of The Diplomats include Jimmy Pearson, Rita Pearson, Corey Pearson, Joseph Brown, Michael Lott, and Zach Flowers. Many of the members hail from Georgia and have been performing, whether singing or playing an instrument, for many years now. It was reported that The Diplomats have recently performed at ‘Singing in the Smokies’ at Inspiration Park, as well as Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. It was also stated that the Point of Faith Church will also be holding a New Year’s Eve Service beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until midnight on Monday, Dec. 31. There will be special church singing from 8-9 p.m., refreshments and fellowship from 9-10 p.m., and tag team preaching from 10 p.m. until midnight.

Participants in the tag team preaching will include Mark Banks, Paul Chapman, Bill Crawford, Joe Hammack, Truman Johnson, Brian May, Ted Nance, Jack Parson, Gary Rickard, Jay Sheline, Anthony Toler, Bob Wiseman, Joe “Skeeter” Woodall, Bud Richmond, Junior Preston, Bert Flora, and others.
