McCallister trial
The trial of Chad W. McCallister, 31, Apple Grove, began with jury selection on Tuesday, Dec. 11 in Mason County Circuit Court. As of late Tuesday afternoon a jury still had not been seated and it was not known if jurors had been selected or if the trial actual began as of press time.
Mason County Circuit Court
The following cases were recently heard by Judge David W. Nibert in Mason County Circuit Court according to the latest court docket filed in the office of Circuit Clerk Bill Withers: State v. Nikolas S. McGuire, status hearing set for 9:30 a.m., Jan. 14, 2013; State v. Gregory N. Richardson, next court date set for 9:30 a.m., Jan. 18, 2013; State v. Ryan K. Stone, plea, three years probation; State v. Charles B. Hill, probation revoked; State v. Mark A. Flora, sentenced to department of corrections, 10 to 25 years, plus one to five years, concurrent, pay court costs; State v. Brandon Roush, motion for reduction of bond denied; State v. Curtis J. Kimble, re-sentencing continued.
In State v. Joshua E. Buttrick, a waiver of extradition hearing was recently held with Buttrick electing not to waive extradition back to Gallia County, Ohio. Buttrick was then appointed counsel and the case was continued until 9:30 a.m., Jan. 10, 2013 to determine whether Gallia County has secured a Governor’s Warrant in the matter. Buttrick, 21, of Gallipolis, was arrested last month by the Mason County Sheriff’s Department on a petit larceny charge.
According to Gallia County Court records, Buttrick was charged with burglary in 2010, placed on probation and was then arraigned on a probation violation in April. He then failed to a appear for a final hearing on May 22 and a warrant for his arrest was issued. He’s currently at the Western Regional Jail with two bonds, a fugitive bond set at $100,000 and another at $2,500 for a misdemeanor out of Mason County Magistrate Court.
Point Pleasant Police Department
The Point Pleasant Police Department recently released its monthly activity report for November to Point Pleasant City Council. There were 63 total citations written; seven misdemeanor arrests; one felony arrest; eight accident reports; 20 complaint reports. Transported to the Western Regional Jail by PPPD personnel were: Paul M. Maines, domestic battery, obstructing an officer. Thomas E. Fellure, Jr., fugitive from justice.
