John E. Sturgeon, 75, Leon, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 in the Huntington Rehab Center.

He was born May 1, 1934, in Mason County a son to the late John W. Sturgeon and Opal Sturgeon. He was an formal employee of Quality Manufacturing of Point Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Gardner; and twin sister, Emma Hester Brooks.

Sturgeon is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Wanda Sturgeon of Leon; daughters, Ester Sturgeon and her husband, Daniel Rice, of Point Pleasant; and Becky Sturgeon of Letart; one grandson, Waylon Sturgeon, who serving in the arm services; sisters, Betty McCarty of Point Pleasant and Lucille Haught of Moundsville; brother, Allen Sturgeon of Point Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Deal Funeral Home with Rev. Marshall Bonecutter and Sappy Hart officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hills Cemetery in Flatrock. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
