McARTHUR, Ohio — Southern’s Kody Wolfe and Eastern’s Taylor Palmer took the top spots in the TVC Hocking Division at the league meet held on Saturday at Vinton County High School, with the Lady Eagles also winning their first team cross country title.

Wolfe was the overall boys meet champion, winning by more than one minute over second place finisher Eli Strahler of Waterford, and nearly two minutes over the top Ohio Division finisher.

The junior from Southern ran a time of 17:07.96 to repeat as champion. This marks the third time in four years the Tornadoes have claimed the individual boys title. Kyle Goode won the title in 2008.

Wolfe is the fourth runner from Meigs County to win the boys title — Eastern’s Michael Owen (2006) and Chris Davis (2005) — but the first to win it twice.

The Eastern Lady Eagles made history on Saturday, competing as a team for the first time at the TVC Cross Country Championships. The Lady Eagles scored a 25 to win the Hocking Division crown by 20 points over Belpre.

Eastern freshman Taylor Palmer was named Hocking Division MVP, placing first with a time of 21:42.44 in the girls race. Teammate and classmate Asia Michael placed third in the Hocking Division girls standings with a time of 22:10.10.
