MASON — Several streets in Mason are scheduled to have some repairs in the near future.
At their most recent meeting, council members for the Town of Mason passed a motion to purchase a load of concrete to fill holes on various streets. Mayor Mindy Kearns stated Fruth Lane and Center Street were to be worked on, and the repairs could also include a few others. Kearns went on to say the repairs should take place within the next few weeks.
Council members also decided to change their next meeting date from April 17 to April 19 for the purposes of laying the levy, and they discussed spring cleaning for the town of Mason. Council decided that Spring Clean Up would be April 16-20, and the charges will be as follows: for a few items, $10, and for a truck load, $25 or more. There are also several items that will not be accepted, including paint, tires, chemicals, batteries, brush, and Freon.
Those making personal appearances were Pete Shepard, Danny Yonker, Donna Vickers, Larry Daniel, and Jack Ramsey. Yonker and Daniel both asked for updates on the sidewalk project and the Senior Citizens Center, respectively. Kearns stated that no new information regarding either one was available.
Ramsey also updated the council on the facilities planning study for the wastewater project. Kearns also stated there was no new information regarding this project as well. Ramsey simply presented the project to the council, and Kearns said there are plans to discuss it further at the next meeting.
In other council business, Councilwoman Pearson stated the town’s Easter egg hunt was a success, and Councilwoman Stover informed other members that software for the police department had been ordered, but not received. The boat dock was also reported to have been updated by Mr. Clendenin.
A motion was also made for a one time donation of $152 to the library. A motion was also made to hire Terry Jewell as a park attendant. Both motions passed. The minutes of the March 15 meeting were read and accepted, and several bills were also accepted for payment.
In addition to Mayor Kearns, council members present were James Pauley, Nick Northup, Marty Yeager, Michelle Pearson and Sarah Stover. Also present was the Recorder Deann Russell. The next council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 17.
