POINT PLEASANT — At Thursday’s meeting of the Mason County Board of Education, board members approved to place several policies on a five- and 15-day review and comment periods.

The board approved to place policy 4370-Seniority For Service Personnel on a five-day review and comment period. Superintendent Suzanne Dickens explained the change in this policy regarding substitute bus drivers and custodians, saying the change will limit substitutes to be listed in only one category. Dickens continued, saying the reason behind the change is to ensure the proper amount of bus drivers are available when needed and that employees will not lose their seniority.

Dickens also explained the reason for only placing this policy on a five-day review as opposed to a 15-day review with the remaining policies, saying the updated policy is needed as soon as possible so Mason County Schools has the appropriate number of bus drivers needed.
