Today marks the start of the four year term for each town’s administration. In Mason, elected council members and new Mayor Jerry Tucker were sworn in on Monday.
Council members Marty Yeager, Ralph Ross and Sarah Stover wore sworn in for their council positions. There will be a special meeting 10 a.m. today at the Mason city building to appoint a recorder. In addition, council will decide what days to hold meetings during the special meeting. Council will appoint two additional council members at a later date.
In Leon, elected officials will be sworn in this evening. Those who will serve on council include Terri Rymer, Crystal Cash, Greg Barker and Adam Null. Mayor Bruce Riffle also will be sworn in to start his first full term as mayor. Riffle was appointed mayor after the former mayor resigned last year. Renae Riffle also will be sworn in as the town’s recorder.
The Town of Leon will have the first official council meeting with the new administration 7 p.m. Monday, July 13. According to Riffle, council will discuss appointing someone to fill the vacant council position, and will decide who will do so during the August meeting.
Riffle said that he was happy to begin his first full term as mayor and looks forward to working with both council and the town’s residents.
“I am very excited. We have a lot of things happening and have made good progress so far, and I look forward to keeping that going,” he said, adding that he plans to work toward improving the town by improving things such as streets and sidewalks.
Although Hartford had a long municipal election, due to a tie for a council seat, the new administration is prepared to take office this month as well. Mayor Sam Anderson was re-elected and will be sworn in along with council members Tom Anderson, Jr., Susan Kensler, DeeDee Dudding, Lois Dudding and Tim Green. Cheryl Oldaker also will be sworn in as recorder.
Anderson said he looks forward to the new term, and plans to keep serving the town by continuing to pursue projects, such as water and sewer. The first council meeting of the new administration will be Monday, July 6.
