POINT PLEASANT — Following her very successful backpack drive, 2009 Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta Queen Summer Searls is once again working hard to plan another event for the community.

Searls will host a Queen’s Brunch on Saturday, Oct. 10, and 48 young ladies will be the VIP guests for the event. According to Searls, special princess friends, Jasmine, Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, will make an appearance at the event as well.

The brunch will feature many exciting activities including both games and prizes. In addition, each guest that attends will receive a gift.

Girls between the ages of five and eight may register for the drawing to win guest tickets at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Point Pleasant, Advance Design Hair Salon or the Mason County Library through Sept. 11. The drawing will take place the week of Sept. 28 and winners will be notified by mail.

The brunch is the second of many community events that Searls has planned and organized throughout her reign as Regatta Queen. The first event that Searls organized, a community backpack drive, was quite successful as more than 150 backpacks were given to students in Mason County. In addition, almost all of the Mason County schools were represented at the drive.

“Community projects are always important. They really help bring the community closer,” Searls said.

She added that she would like to help the 2010 Regatta Queen continue community projects, such as the backpack drive, next year.

According to Searls, she also plans to go into the local schools to read to children this fall. In addition, she has several ideas for Christmas projects planned.
