POINT PLEASANT — For those with a green thumb or anyone wishing to develop their gardening skills, the 2013 WVU Extension Service Garden Calendar is now available to help, according to WVU Extension Office.
“We are always excited when the new calendar is published,” said WVU Extension agent Rodney Wallbrown. “It is WVU Extension’s most-requested publication. It’s packed with so much information that covers all steps of the gardening process, developed from years of research, wisdom and tried-and-true tips.”
It was reported that this year’s calendar helps to teach readers how to make good gardening choices. Gardeners will learn how to select the proper tools, control insects, cover crops, and more. It also contains day-to-day planting and harvesting reminders for the entire year.
The calendar is available now at the Mason County Extension Service Office located in the Courthouse Annex, 525 Viand Street in Point Pleasant. The calendar may also be viewed and downloaded by visiting www.ext.wvu.edu.
It was reported that connecting the people of West Virginia to the University’s resources and programs is the primary goal of WVU Extension Service and its 55 offices throughout the state. Local experts, like WVU Extension’s agents and specialists, work to help improve the lifestyles and well-being of youths, workforces, communities, farms and businesses through trusted research in the counties in which they serve.
