YOUR OPINION: Attention, pet owners

Dear Editor:

Pet owners, please do not forget that it is almost summer. This means that the weather is going to be hotter than ever. Don’t forget to feed and water your pets. Be responsible.

Imagine yourself with a 5-pound fur coat on, standing in the sun when it is 90 degrees outside with 100 percent humidity. Imagine running around trying to find water when in reality you probably won’t find any unless your owner feeds you.

Your pets depend on you so much. Don’t let them down. Check your pets every day. Without your help, your pets will more likely become dehydrated and, unfortunately, die.

If you can’t pay for food and water, give them away to homes that can.

Iam glad to hear that Mason Co has a leash law. Now the next question is how do I get ahold of animal control to collect 20 dogs with mange and other dogs and cats allowed to run freely and destroy my flowers and kill small animals and scratch and tear everything from vehicles to porch furniture?? I have looked up the phone number, but it seems to be unlisted. Something has to be done about the mange. If it's sarcoptyk, it can be passed to humans...

Yes all pet owners should also remember that Mason County has a leash law. Please keep your pets on a leash so they won't go roaming through other peoples yards digging up shrubry and flowers.

Thanks
