POINT PLEASANT — With summer quickly closing in, preparation for The Mason County Farmer’s Market is in full swing and the opening date has been set.

The market is scheduled to kick off its season Saturday, June 16, 2012, and will be located under the James Bartow Memorial Bridge, next to the USDA Service Center in Point Pleasant. The market will be open from 8 a.m. until noon, every Wednesday and Saturday through October 13, 2012.

It was reported that producers will be placed into three different categories this year. There will be “Full Growers,” producers that grow or raise all of the products they sell; “Partial Growers,” producers that only grow or raise part of their product and purchase the remaining for resale; and “Resellers,” producers that purchase all products for resale. Each producer will have a sign at his or her booth stating which category they are in. Signs will be provided by the Market Master for the 2012 season, who is Clark Harper.

If one would like to sell produce at the Farmer’s Market, there is also a ten dollar per day set up fee. It was reported the fee helps cover costs incurred by the market.

It was also reported that those with the Mason County Farmer’s Market are grateful for all those who have supported the Farmer’s Market in past years and has helped it become such a great success.

For further information about participating in the Mason County Farmer’s Market, contact the Mason County Extension office at 304-675-0888.
