ASHTON — Kaitlynn Hughes and Drake Grizzell, two senior students from Hannan Junior/Senior High School, were recently highlighted by their school newspaper for their many accomplishments.
Hughes is currently the Jr. Advisor for FFA and was president for two years. She was also the president of her 4-H chapter for four years and secretary for two years. She is a FBLA member and serves as the reporter. Hughes is also a member of Hannan’s RAZE, SADD, Rachell’s Challenge, Jr. Board of Directors, Student Ambassador to HATS, Student Council and was a member of the band and color guard.
Hughes’ reported her most memorable moments as being selected to serve as Hannan’s FFA chapter president her 10th and 11th grade year and being a member of the concert band when they received their first level two rating in 10 years. She acknowledged all of her friends, FFA members and all the staff for making her high school years fun and exciting.
Hughes’ future plans are to attend Marshall University, where she hopes to study Business Management or Geo-Planning.
Grizzell is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Middle Creek Station Reenacting troop, FBLA, Theater, Piano, Jubilations Choir, Quiz Bowl and the Jr. Board of Directors for Farmers Bank.
“Each year at Hannan has been so event-filled, to sum it up in short would be a shame,” Grizzell said. “I have laughed, cried, made friends and saw my life shaped for the better over these years.”
Grizzell also acknowledged each and every student, staff members, friends, family, mentors, and everyone who has helped him in some ways throughout the years.
After high school, he hopes to attend a reputable University to study Anthropology. This degree would springboard him across the Atlantic Ocean to Scotland where he hopes to begin his real major; Celtic Studies. He hopes to become a Professor of Celtic Studies.
