LEON — According to its theme song, the Red Solo Cup has been filled up on many occasions with many libations but this week, 48 of them were allegedly found filled with marijuana plants.
Steven R. Trent, 37, Leon, was arrested and charged with manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana) on Tuesday after personnel with the Mason County Sheriff’s Department allegedly found pot plants on Trent’s property at 4031 Bud Chattin Rd.
According to the official complaint filed in Mason County Magistrate Court, personnel with the sheriff’s department gained permission to search the property from Trent. The complaint says Trent led law enforcement to a partial building which had a box style shelf on the back of it. On this shelf is where the sheriff’s department personnel said he observed 48 Red Solo Cups with each cup containing an alleged marijuana plant with potting soil and miracle grow fertilizer, again according to the complaint.
Trent was arraigned before Mason County Magistrate Cheryl Miller Ross who set his bond at $25,000. The case has been assigned to Magistrate Gail Roush for the preliminary hearing.
