POINT PLEASANT — A Point Pleasant teacher’s employment was terminated at Tuesday evening’s meeting of the Mason County Board of Education.
Following an open hearing and an adjournment into executive session, board members voted to approve the termination of James E. Jones, II, a math teacher at Point Pleasant Junior/Senior High School.
As previously reported, Jones was suspended without pay following an alleged altercation with a 16-year-old male student. He was later arrested by personnel with the Mason County Sheriff’s Department, being charged with felony child abuse causing risk of injury and misdemeanor battery, and was released after posting a $32,000 surety bond.
More on this hearing will appear in Thursday’s print edition of the Point Pleasant Register and on www.mydailyregister.com.
