POINT PLEASANT — An anonymous tip called into Mason County 9-1-1 resulted in the discovery of a meth lab and three people taken into custody late Thursday.

Trooper A.B. Wilson with the Mason County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police said an active, shake and bake meth lab was found in a bedroom inside a mobile home at 33 Penny Lane in the Camp Conley area. Wilson said in addition to the lab, also found were materials and supplies commonly used to make meth.

Troopers say the mobile home is the residence of Pedro Leon, 32, Point Pleasant, who was taken into custody and charged with operation of a meth lab and alteration of pseudoephedrine.

Also arrested at the scene were Brittany A. McCarty, 25, of Point Pleasant, who has been charged with conspiracy as has Sarah B. Hill, 24, of Gallipolis Ferry. Hill was also charged with illegal purchase of pseudoephedrine. Wilson said Hill allegedly purchased pseudoephedrine with the intent to use it for the manufacture of meth.

Assisting Wilson were Tfc. A.B. Ward and Lt. Greene from the Mason County Sheriff’s Department - Greene acted as a meth tech for the investigation.

The mobile home has now been sealed with no one permitted to enter. Under West Virginia law, if the makings of methamphetamine are found inside a dwelling, the residence must either be cleaned in a specific way that meets state standards, or the dwelling must be torn down.

Wilson said neighbors reported they suspected Leon had allegedly been making meth for a couple months.

All three were transported to the Western Regional Jail. As of press time on Friday, Hill and McCarty were no longer booked at the jail while Leon remained in custody.
