MORGANTOWN — The Hannan Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter in Mason County recently traveled to Morgantown, for the State Leadership Conference.
Hannan High School had 22 FBLA members compete in the State Conference, and had the most representation in Mason County, including five first place, three second place and two third place winners. Students were able to attend several workshops that taught various skills like resume building, team-building fundamentals, and game design.
Participating students include Andrea Casey and Zachary Jenkins, who competed in desktop publishing and received first place, and Kaitlynn Hughes, who competed in parliamentarian procedure and received first place. Valerie Randolph and Mason Dempsey also competed in FBLA principal and procedures and sports management, respectively, and both received top honors.
Emma Jenkins competed in FBLA principal and procedures and received second place and Austin Akers competed in parliamentarian procedures, and received second place. Emily Bledsoe also received second place in Business Procedures.
Matthew Randolph competed in client service and received third place, in addition to Daniel Parsons, who received third place in introduction to technology concepts.
FBLA is the oldest and largest student business organization in the United States. FBLA’s mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. FBLA pledges to solemnly promise to uphold the aims and responsibilities of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda and strives to develop the qualities necessary in becoming responsible business leaders.
