POINT PLEASANT — Taking pictures of intense storm clouds is a popular past time for some and local Derek Parsons has also joined the crowd.

There is perhaps something else that sets Parsons’ photos apart from the rest, and that may be the face of Jesus.

Parsons took several snapshots of Thursday’s storm clouds as they grew bigger and darker around Point Pleasant, and one particular photo is sure to become the talk of the town. To some it may have looked like a scene from 1996 film Twister, but other thrill seekers like Parsons may have also braved the elements like the stormchasers to capture something remarkable. A tornado like storm cloud located near Sandhill Road caught Parson’s attention, and on Friday morning he shared some of those photos with several media outlets as just pictures of the intense storm clouds. It wasn’t until the pictures had been sent out that he took a closer look and noticed what he thought to be Jesus in the clouds.

Of course when it comes to the shapes of clouds, every one tends to see something different. Those wishing to see what they can see in the clouds may have several other chances in the coming week, since there are a few storms, albeit not as intense, in the weather forecast.

Following the storm on June 29, locals are no doubt on edge when they hear of another storm coming and the possibility of enduring more catastrophic side effects. Thursday evening’s storm may not have been as severe, but did show that Mother Nature can always be a force to be reckoned with.
