POINT PLEASANT — On Friday night, June 15, Gary Lee Tolley and Friends will be performing as part of the Mayor’s Night Out Concert Series.

From 8-10 p.m. at the Point Pleasant Riverfront Park, Tolley stated the concert will include a performance of their song “Storm Coming Over the Mountain” which is currently number 18 on the Independent Country Music Association’s Consolidated Country Chart, and number seven on the The Independent Music Network’s Country Top 30 Countdown. It has also been played on Sirius Channel 125 and the David Webb Show. Released around the beginning of May, Tolley says this song is a ghost story set in the civil war. He called it a “haunting” song, and plans to save it during the concert when the sun goes down and it is getting dark.

“We promise that everyone that comes out will have a good time,” Tolley said. He said the group will perform a few classic country songs, a few Elvis songs, and some of their original music. He continued, saying they are excited to play in the amphitheater because of the great sound and it’s a familiar venue for them.

Tolley also said the concert will include special guest Shana Smith. Smith, who is from Ohio, will be performing a few songs including “Crazy” and Traveling Soldiers.”

“We really look forward to seeing a lot of people at the Mayor’s Night Out,” Tolley said. The concert is free and there will also be concessions available.

In addition to discussing the performance this Friday, Tolley also spoke about a few other recent happenings with his group. Their song “She’s Gone” recently spent 17 weeks on the charts and also won a contest in Oklahoma. As a result of this contest, Tolley will now get to perform in Las Vegas at the Palace Station Casino on July 9. He will also be interviewed by Fox 5.

Tolley also stated a few of their songs are in talks with some big names in country music in Nashville, Tenn. He said that Trace Adkins had received “Storm Coming Over the Mountain” and Toby Keith is also looking at a couple of songs. Tolley added they are hoping to get something like this going on in Nashville and have a big artist record on of their songs.

The Mayor’s Night Out Concert series will continue next Friday night, June 22, at the Riverfront Park with a performance from gospel group Forever Blessed.

Other performances coming up this summer will include the following:

July 6, Bunkhammer (rock and blues); July 13, Neon Nickle (southern rock, county, classic); July 20, Paul Doeffinger; July 27, Two River Junction (classic country and rock).

August 3, Rock of Ages (contemporary gospel); Aug. 17, Blue Z Band (county rock and blues); Aug. 24, Bill Hawks (country, rock and mix); Aug. 31, South of the River Band (country, southern rock, original).

There will not be performances during the regatta weekend and the week of the Mason County Fair.
