POINT PLEASANT — This year, the Fifth Annual Fall Gospel Jubilee will take place for the first time at Krodel Park with three days of gospel music planned over the Labor Day Weekend.

The free event begins at 2 p.m. with performances throughout the day and evening starting Sept. 1-3. Singing will take place under the large gazebo beside the lake. Those who plan on attending are asked to bring a lawn chair for seating under the large tent.

Those who do attend will be treated to singing by 30 different groups, including the following nationally known artists the Rochesters on Sept. 1, J.B. and Barbara Spencer on Sept. 2 and Mike Upright on Sept. 3. There will be a whole host of other performers in between.

In addition, Roger Duncan from Seffner, Fla., will be the guest preacher on Sept. 1 and 2. Duncan is the son of the late Buren and Bonnie Duncan and spent his early years in Mason County. According to organizers, Duncan has made many friends here over the years and several still attend the annual revival at his home church in Seffner, Fla.

According to one of the event’s organizers Evelyn Roush, the Fall Gospel Jubilee started because of requests to promote an autumn sing. The sound system will be provided by Adam Roush and David Bowen. Concessions will also be sold by volunteers to support the jubilee - these concessions will be served in the air conditioned club house and outside at picnic tables if weather permits.

Additional performers include: Ron Shamblin of Sissonville, Covered By Love of South Webster, Ohio, Roush Ramily of New Haven, Truly Saved of Longbottom, Ohio, Forever Blessed of Gallipolis Ferry, Vickie Moore of Vinton, Ohio, West Virginia Couriers of Elkview, Day Spring of The Plains, Ohio, Williams Family of Frenchburg, Ky., Edith Ellis Lykens, Salyersville, Ky., Violet Maynard of Columbus, Ohio, David Bowen Family of Spencer, Taylor Brothers of Charleston, Narrow Way of Point Pleasant, New Southern Harmony of Gallipolis, The Kidds of Cross Lands, Brian and Family Connection of Longbottom, Ohio, New Jerusalem Bluegrass of Columbus, Ohio, Jacobs Ladder of Fairdale, Rolins Family of Leon, Dave Seratt, John and Shirley Cramer of Algar, Ohio, Paul and Mary Nichols of Elkview, Arling Barnes and Friends of Red House, Lloyd (Cowboy) Hunt of Cottageville.

Again, admission is free but love offerings will be taken daily. Camping is available by calling 304-675-1068 or 304-730-5750.
