POINT PLEASANT — Grand and reserve champion animals topped the Mason County Fair’s Livestock Sale which auctioned off a total of 313 animals on Friday.
The sale began with the auction of commercial feeder calves with Rebekah Dunham’s 485-pound grand champion selling for $26.50 per pound to West Virginia Paving and BRG Farm represented by Carl, Greg and Rachel Dunham as well as Toni Kimberling. Then, Levi Doolittle’s reserve champion 520-pound commercial feeder calf sold for $9.75 per pound to Wearcon, Nitro Electric, Atlas Steel and Supply and North American Industrial Services, all represented at the sale by Derrick and Loren Watterson.
Next up was Travis Bays’ 1,295-pound grand champion market steer which sold $3.35 per pound to Ohio Valley Bank represented by Mario Liberatore, Kathy Bowser and Bryan Stepp. Mikayla Bays’ 1,290-pound reserve champion market steer which sold for $2.50 per pound to Eastman’s Foodland represented by Kevin and Brent Eastman.
Then, Kyle Hill’s 105-pound grand champion special market lamb sold for $11.50 per pound to K and L Processing represented by Ruby and Larry Schwartz, Morgan Rollins. John Harper’s reserve champion 95-pound special market lamb sold for $7.50 per pound to Mitch Carmichael, Stephen Kingery, John Lehew and Gary Mitchell who were represented by Gary Walbrown.
Kaitlyn Dunn’s grand champion 135-pound market lamb sold for $20 per pound to 22nd St. Exxon (City Ice and Fuel) represented by Jimmy Bowser. Katherine Deem’s reserve champion 153-pound market lamb sold for $6.00 per pound to Pleasant Valley Hospital represented by Mike Lieving, Dorsel Keefer, Traci Call, Sarah Roush and Mario Liberatore.
Miranda Chapman’s grand champion 95-pound market goat sold for $11.50 per pound to City Ice and Fuel represented by Jimmy Bowser. Tanner Durst’s reserve champion 80-pound market goat sold for $11 per pound to Dallas Nibert, DDS, represented by Mindy, Sam and Colton Nibert.
Logan Edmonds’ grand champion 255-pound market hog went for $$5.50 per pound to Pleasant Valley Hospital’s Family Hospital Group, including Doctors Simon, Tzuk, Lares, Roberson and La Carbonara and represented by Mike Lieving, Traci Call, Sarah Roush and Mario Liberatore. Karlee Edmonds’ reserve champion 285-pound market hog sold for $5.75 per pound to J and J Logging represented by John Flora, Jamie and Riley Byus.
