MASON COUNTY —The Mason County Fair has a new queen.
Madison Crank of Henderson, daughter of Bill and Amy Crank, was crowned the 2012 Mason County Fair Queen during Monday’s contest.
Kelsey Zuspan of West Columbia, daughter of Frederick and Sonia Zuspan, was picked as first runner-up as well as Miss Congeniality. Kayla Thomas of Leon, daughter of David and JoAnn Thomas, was picked as second runner-up. Lori Wooten, of Point Pleasant, daughter of Michael and Tia Wooten was picked as third runner-up.
Kayla Mitchell of Point Pleasant, daughter of Darrell and Debbie Mitchell, took home the award for Miss Photogenic and for scoring highest on her promotional speech. Tori Walker of Point Pleasant, daughter of Darin and Vickie Walker, won the award for Best Evening Gown.
Also, Brandy Barkey Sweeney presented the Brandy Barkey Sweeney Community Service Award to Lauren Roush of Mason, daughter of Jamie and Rebecca Roush.
In addition, awards were given in the best decorated car competition - each contestant had their own car in the Mason County Fair Parade. First place went to Lauren Roush, Second Place to Kayla Thomas and Third Place saw a tie between Kelsey Zuspan and Kayla Mitchell.
There were 11 young ladies competing in the contest which drew a large crowd Monday night. Those contestants included Taylor Kinnaird of Gallipolis Ferry, daughter of Shad Kinnaird and Christy Thompson; Lauren Lanier of Point Pleasant, daughter of Barrett and Angela Lanier; Marsha Pearson of Mason, daughter of Rick and Becky Pearson; Deeanna Sayre of Mason, daughter of Stephen Sayre and Donita Sayre.
Crank was crowned by outgoing Fair Queen Jordan Cullen and received an impressive prize package, including a crown, courtesy of Siders Jewelers, sash courtesy of Deal Funeral Home, flowers courtesy of Floral Fashions, crown pin courtesy of Victoria’s Prom and Bridal, $600 cash from OVB, $50 cash in member of Amy C. Boggs by her family, $75 gift certificate courtesy of Advanced Design, $100 gift certificate courtesy Elizabeth Michael’s, $50 gas card from Point Financial Services (Larry Jones, agent), magnetic car signs courtesy KDL Autobody, gift basket courtesy B and J Productions, photo session and 16 x 20 framed portrait courtesy Putney’s Photography, a full year of tanning courtesy Camp Conley Mart Exxon, camper for queen’s lodging during the fair courtesy of Burdette Camping Center, John Deere Gator for queen’s transportation during the fair courtesy of Stover Trucking Company, LLC, trophy and all expense paid trip to compete in the 2013 West Virginia Fairs and Festivals Pageant in Charleston in January, courtesy of Mason County Fair Board. The queen also received a major gift basket filled with items from area businesses.
First, second and third runners-up also received a variety of prizes from local businesses, including sashes, flowers and trophies.
