Point PD receives donations for new K-9 unit

POINT PLEASANT — The Point Pleasant Police Department is getting a little help from its brothers in blue when it comes to organizing a new K-9 unit.Earlier this year, Gandalf, the PPPD’s former K-9 unit, retired due to age and health reasons, leaving an absence as well as opportunity. Since then, Patrolman Justin Veith has undertaken a project to raise funds to establish a new K-9 unit through donations and grants — and without putting any additional financial strain on the city.The price tag for the new K-9 unit is around $10,000 due to purchasing not only the dog but updating and purchasing equipment and other expenses.
