MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. — Parkersburg came away with both teams titles Saturday afternoon at the 2015 Chick-Fil-A Cross Country Invitational held in Wood County.

The PHS ladies defeated Eastern on a tiebreaker, as both programs scored 69 points after five runners had finished. The Big Red, however, earned a 34th place effort from the sixth runner, while the Lady Eagles got 43rd place from their sixth competitor — allowing Parkersburg to win the girls competition.

Olivia Collett of PHS defeated 93 other runners to win the girls race with a time of 18:53. Jessica Cook of EHS was the overall runner-up with a mark of 20:02. Preston County (74), Parkersburg South (91) and Caldwell (127) rounded out the top-five spots in the nine-team field.

Laura Pullins followed Cook with a fifth place effort of 20:30, while Ally Durst (21:13) and Taylor Parker (21:44) respectively placed 12th and 16th overall. Brittany Long rounded out the Lady Eagle tally by finishing 37th with a time of 23:10, while Rhiannon Morris (23:30) and Kaitlyn Hawk (25:34) respectively placed 43rd and 68th.

Point Pleasant had only three competitors in the girls event, led by Allison Henderson in 60th place with a time of 24:49. Karson Bonecutter (27:38) and Cierra Beatty (30:30) were also 81st and 90th overall for the Lady Knights.

The Big Red posted a winning score of 39 in the 11-team boys competition, with Wheeling Park (89), Warren (116), Preston County (127) and Parkersburg South (137) rounding out the top five positions. Brent Ash of Warren defeated 131 other runners for the individual crown with a winning time of 16:15.

The PPHS boys placed 11th with 325 points and were led by Wyatt Dean with a 109th place time of 22:50. Tanner Durst (23:24) and Brandon Henderson (23:29) respectively placed 116th and 117th, while Brandon Hall was 127th with a mark of 25:49. Byron Fisher (30:32) rounded out the team scoring by placing 132nd overall.

Caden Goff was 82nd overall as Eastern’s lone boy participant and posted a time of 21:22.
