POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — Point Pleasant had four grapplers go unbeaten while placing fourth overall this weekend during the 10th annual Jason Eades Memorial Duals wrestling tournament held at PPHS in Mason County.

The Big Blacks went 3-0 on Friday en route to winning Pool B over the likes of Shady Spring (39-33), Sissonville (49-22) and Nitro (42-24), but hosts managed only a slim 42-40 win over Roane County in Saturday’s championship pool to finish 1-3.

St. Albans captured the 2015 team title by going 4-0 on Saturday, while Greenbrier East (3-1) and Greenbrier West (2-2) rounded out the top three finishes.

Point Pleasant was without a handful of grapplers for all of Saturday’s matches due to ACT testing, but the Red, Black and White still had seven grapplers post four-or-more victories throughout a possible seven matches.

George Smith was the lone Point wrestler to post a perfect 7-0 mark after going unbeaten in the 106-pound division, while Tannor Hill (285), Grant Safford (220) and Hunter White (195) each posted 5-0 marks in their respective weight classes.

Andrew Roach finished the two-day event with a 6-1 mark in the 182 division, while Jacob Roub ended the weekend with a 5-2 record at 138 pounds. Scotty Wilcox (132) and Chris Lush (145) both posted 4-3 marks in their weight classes as well.

Jeffrey Simpkins went 3-3 for PPHS at 132 pounds, while James Patterson was 2-1 overall in the heavyweight division. Thomas Jeffrey, Charles Ebert, Miles Williams and Colton McCoy also competed for Point at the event. Luke Wilson and Eddie Mays were unavailable due to injuries.

Wahama finished 1-2 overall on Day 1 in Pool D after posting a 21-0 win over Poca, but the White Falcons ultimately went winless in the second day of competition after falling to Herbert Hoover (66-15), Winfield (66-18), Sissonville (39-0) and Liberty Raleigh (60-18).

No individual statistics for Wahama’s wrestlers were available as of press time.
