CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Guess who’s back … again?

The Eastern baseball team is headed to its second straight district championship game in as many years following an 8-0 victory over top-seeded Portsmouth Notre Dame on Sunday evening in a Division IV district semifinal at V.A. Memorial Stadium in Ross County.

The fourth-seeded Eagles (16-9) pounded out 11 hits in the wire-to-wire victory, and senior starter Cameron Richmond tossed seven no-hit innings on the mound.

Eastern will be going for the program’s ninth district title and first since the 2011 campaign on Monday night when it takes on Belpre at 7 p.m. Monday night at V.A. Memorial Stadium. Current EHS coach Brown Bowen has also led the Eagles to district titles in 2002, 2005, and 2007 during his previous 15 seasons.

A complete look at Eastern’s dominating district semifinal victory over Portsmouth Notre Dame will be available in the Tuesday sports edition of the Gallipolis Daily Tribune, Point Pleasant Register and The Daily Sentinel.
