POMEROY, Ohio — A strong finish to cap off a strong season.

The Eastern golf team fired a 163 in its final Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division match of the season, on Thursday night at the Meigs County Golf Course, and the Eagles claimed the victory in a tri-match with Wahama and South Gallia.

The Eagles finish the year with a 22-5 overall record and a 12-2 league record, placing the Green, White and Gold second in the league behind defending champion Waterford (13-1).

Wahama — which shot a 221 on Thursday — finishes the year with a 5-9 TVC Hocking record, while South Gallia concludes the league campaign with a 1-13 record. The Rebels didn’t have enough golfers for a team score, on Thursday.

EHS senior John Little earned medalist honors and led the victors with a four-over par 38. Ryan Harbour was next for the Eagles with a 41, while Kaleb Honaker and John Harris posted matching rounds of 42. Garrett Chalfont and Nathan Hensley both shot 46, but did not count toward the Eastern team score.

Anthony Ortiz led the White Falcons with a 46, followed by Jace Heckaman with a 55. Gage Sayre was next for WHS with a 57, while Destiny Sayre fired a 63.

The Rebels were led by Curtis Haner with a 43, followed by Bryce Nolan with a 53 and Mackenzie Martin with a 60.

Eastern and South Gallia will both return to action on Wednesday in the sectional tournament at Jaycee Golf Course in Chillicothe. Wahama will play in the regional tournament at Mingo Bottom, on Monday.
