POINT PLEASANT — August is getting closer every day and so is the Mason County Fair.
Recently, Mason County Fair officers were elected for 2016 as were members to this year’s Mason County Fair Board of Directors and Mason County Junior Fair Board.
This year’s Mason County Fair officers are: Becky Pearson, assistant secretary, Teddy Thomas, secretary, Brian Billings, first vice president, Nickki Hunt, treasurer, R.F. Stein, second vice president, Tina Baker, assistant treasurer and Shawn Paugh, president.
The 2016 Mason County Fair Board of Directors are: Marsha Pearson, Benny Hoffman, Curt McConihay, Matt Roush, Larry Thomas, Rocky Sturgeon, Steve Ohlinger, James “Tiger” Wilson, Ernie Watterson, Greg Dunham, Walt Roush, Josh Rardin, John Hill, Beverly Forbes and Joe Arrington.
Members of this year’s Mason County Junior Fair Board are: Zack Parsons, Cassie Meadows, Molly Fisher, Nena Hunt, Marsha Pearson (advisor), Teddy Thomas (advisor) and Matt Roush (advisor), Katherine Deem, Brea Ball, Kelly Belcher and Jordan Muncy.
This year’s Mason County Fair is Aug. 8-13, but the next big fair event is the upcoming Mason County Fair Spring Prize Bash on May 21 that helps pay for improvements to the fairgrounds. The bash is from noon t0 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds with a grand prize of $10,000 or a 2016 Jay Flight Camper with slideout. In addition, prizes will be given away every five minutes and include everything from guns, cash, electronics, jewelry and more. There’s also an early bird cash prize drawing worth $1,000 to a winner who purchases their ticket before April 15. Ticket buyers do not need to be present to win.
Tickets, which are $50, must be presented for entry into the event. In addition to a day of prizes, those who purchase a ticket will be treated to all-you-can-eat hog roast, free entertainment and bouncy houses for kids. A corn hole tournament will also be held starting at 11 a.m. May 21, sponsored by Cult of Corn Hole and the Mason County Fair.
A special “pre-event” will take place at 5 p.m. May 20 at the fair grounds with bingo, corn hole tournament, concessions and prize drawings, camping will be available for $25.
