POINT PLEASANT — The Mason County Fair is known for booking major entertainment and this year is no different.

From current country hit makers, to country legends, to a Bon Jovi tribute band, to soul-stirring gospel – the fair offers something for everyone.

Starting on Tuesday, Aug. 11, Ricky Atkinson & Compassion takes the main stage at 9 p.m.

“This terrific group is a South Georgia based Gospel music trio. They have been traveling all over this great land taking the good news of Jesus to the world. The testimony, music, lyrics, attitude and delivery of this group is real. We are excited to have this talented trio with us,” Brian Billings, fair entertainment chairman said.

On Wednesday, Aug. 12, Crush (Bon Jovi tribute band) takes the main stage at 9 p.m.

“‘Canada’s Ultimate Tribute’ to Bon Jovi, ‘Crush’ will take center stage with a powerful revitalized spirit of music that spans over many years,” Billings said. “The show and sound are set to please not only today’s Bon Jovi fans, but those of the past.”

On Thursday, Aug. 13, country legend Gene Watson takes the main stage at 9 p.m.

“No stranger to the Mason County Fair, Watson has entertained fair goers in 1983 and 1998,” Billings added. “We have always had requests for Watson to come back and perform for us. He has a strong fan base here not only with older country music fans but a strong, young fan base in Mason County. This guy continues to travel throughout the country every year and the crowds are amazing. So many great hits throughout his career, just unbelievable what he has done. Not a day goes by that you don’t hear a Watson hit on the radio at least twice a day or more.”

On Friday, Aug. 14, country star Mark Wills takes the main stage at 9 p.m.

“‘Jacob’s Ladder’, ‘Don’t Laugh at Me’, ‘I Do’ (Cherish You), and the seven week number one hit ‘19 Something’, will make Friday night one of the best ever when this guy takes the stage,” Billings said. “One of the true gentlemen of country music will have the audience singing his hits even when the show is over. Wills made his first appearance at the fair to a sellout crowd back in 1998.”

On Saturday, Aug. 15 rising country stars the Swon Brothers take the main stage at 9 p.m. to close the fair.

“Many country music fans will remember them from ‘Team Blake’ in season four of NBC’s ‘The Voice’”, Billings stated. “Arista Nashville recording artists debuted their top 15 single ‘Later On’ and followed up with the hit ‘Pray for You.’ They have been charming fans across the country. The brothers from Muskogee, Oklahoma were nominated for Duo of the Year for the 48th Annual CMA Awards. Zack and Colton will bring a great show to the fair and one that many will be talking about,” Billings said.

Of course, on the opening night of the fair, Monday, Aug. 10, the main stage is home to the Mason County Fair Queen Contest which begins at 8 p.m. Prior to this at 7:45 p.m., the fair dedication takes place.

This year’s Mason County Fair is Aug. 10-15.
