Mason Co. sheriff’s sergeant arrested for violating protective warrant

POINT PLEASANT — Sgt. Robert E. Fruth II of the Mason County Sheriff’s Department was arrested Wednesday evening by the West Virginia State Police.

According to Cpl. K.M. Gilley, one of the arresting officers, Fruth was arrested and charged with two counts of violating a domestic violence protective warrant.

Fruth, of Point Pleasant, posted a $5,000 cash bond under the stipulation of being placed on home confinement until his hearing.

Sheriff David Anthony declined to comment on Fruth’s arrest.

The other arresting officer in this case was Sgt. E.B. Starcher.
