Earl Vinson Gibson, 86, of Glenwood, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington.

He was born July 29, 1924 in Putnam County, a son to the late Orlin and Leliar Wallace Gibson.

He was a member of Bedford United Methodist Church of Milton, the Lebanon Masonic Lodge No. 58 of Milton, and the Beni Kedem Shriners Club of Charleston where he recieved his 50-year membership pin. He was a retired boilermaker from C & O Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mildred E. Gibson; brothers, Eschol Gibson, Cal Gibson; and sister, Ruth Fetty.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Deal of Glenwood; grandchildren, Richard Alford of Glenwood, and Cherie (William) Pearson of Henderson; great-grandchildren, Tristan and Brody Pearson; brothers, Charles (Maxine) Gibson of Milton, Edward (Nadine) Gibson of Milton, and Kent (Moneva) Gibson of Glenwood; sisters, Sue (Pete) Doss of Phoenix, Ariz., Reda (Richard) Alford of Ona, and Connie (Duke) Beal of Fla.; along with many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 14, at the Deal Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Long officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Thursday, at the funeral home.
