The 21st Annual Regatta Queen Pageant will take place 6 p.m. this evening at the State Theatre in Point Pleasant. Unlike former pageants, this year’s pageant will take place a week prior to the actual Regatta Festival.
In addition, new titles have been added to this year’s pageant, including Miss Teen and Miss Maritime. The Fourth Annual River Princess title also will continue this year. In tonight’s pageant, contestants in the Queen and Teen categories will compete. Contestants vying for River Princess and Miss Maritime will compete Sunday, June 26 at 3 p.m. at the State Theatre.
According to Heather Wood, pageant director, the Regatta Queen and Teen pageant is open to contestants across the state. Those competing for Regatta Queen are: Emily Bledsoe of Fraziers Bottom; Meghan Jo Bowles of Leon; Katie Giannunzio of Ravenswood; Jessica Erin Griffith of Evans; Emily Michelle Holley of Glenwood; Kiona Rayne Norvell of Leon; and Lauren Elizabeth Roush of Mason.
The winner of the Regatta Queen title will represent the Regatta at the West Virginia Fairs and Festivals Pageant — the winner of this title will then reign over the 2012 West Virginia State Fair.
Those competing for the Teen title include: Adrian Nicole Bird of Clay; Kathleen Mae Davis of Charleston; Michaela Drummond of Point Pleasant; Alexis Kelley Farmer of Spencer; and Alexis Kathleen Legg of Charleston.
Information and contestants competing for the Miss Maritime and River Princess titles will be in Saturday’s edition of the Point Pleasant Register.
