POINT PLEASANT — Fall looks to be quite active for the Mason County Area Chamber of Commerce.

From workshops to events, the chamber will have many things to do over the next few months.

On Sept. 27, the chamber will hold their monthly luncheon meeting at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Haven. The meeting’s meal, set to begin at noon, will be catered by the St. Paul Lutheran’s Women’s Group. Diana Riddle, administrator/nursing director of the Mason County Health Department, will serve as the guest speaker. Riddle will discuss the Mason County Drug Coalition, which is an organization that was formed earlier this year. The organization has already actively held several awareness campaigns, including the Sticker Shock, which warned against the dangers of purchasing and/or selling alcohol to minors.

Hilda Austin, chamber executive director, described the upcoming meeting as a presentation “worthy of our attention.” To RSVP for the event, contact Austin at 304-675-1050.

Also coming up is the Fall Seminar 2011, slated for Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Marshall University Ohio Valley Center (MOVC). The event will run from 6-8 p.m. and will feature the topic of customer service. Chamber member, Missi Scarberry, will serve as the seminar instructor. The seminar is available for $10 to chamber members and $25 for three or more non-members. Those interested in participating in the workshop are asked to call Austin.

The chamber plans to continue their “Business of the Month” series as well. This month’s winner, Felman Productions, Inc., was recently awarded. According to Austin, Felman Productions, Inc. is a Delaware corporation that was incorporated on Sept. 22, 2005. In Jan. 2006, Felman acquired the assets of the New Haven facility from bankruptcy. Following this, Felman restarted production at the plant and has since made significant capital contributions to the plant. Currently, Felman is a major producer of Ferro alloys and currently employs 265 people.

Tourism, which chamber takes an active role in, looks to be busy as well. Local events coming up include the 10th Annual Mothman Festival, Sept. 16-18; and Dinner at the Fort (Fort Randolph), Sept. 24. For more information on specific tourism events, call the tourism center at 304-675-6788.
