More than 60 runners and walkers participated in the event, which began on Main St. by the Point Pleasant River Museum. However, it was Patrick Holland who was victorious.
Holland won the race with a time of 17 minutes 31 seconds. Winning first overall female was Bonnie Smith. Smith completed the course in 19 minutes 52 seconds. Age group winners were Christian Austin, male 19 and under, 23:33; Sydney Smith, female 19 and under, 23:15; Collin Skeen, male 20-29, 18:03; Cassandra Elliot, female 20-29, 22:20; Joel Lloyd, male 30-39, 17:57; Natalie Larsen, female 30-39, 26:00; Scott Haynes, male 40-49, 19:37; Lori Austin, female 40-49, 29:11; Rick Morgan, male 50 plus, 19:44; and Leah Burris, female 50 plus, 29:48. All winners were awarded prizes.
Special door prizes, donated by the Mothman Museum, also were presented. Winning a copy of the Mothman Prophecies DVD was Macyn Baylor, while Courtney Abedi won a Mothman water bottle. The first 50 participants also received commemorative Mothman 5K T-shirts, which were designed by students at the Mason County Career Center. All participants received a special race goody bag.
