The tournament, which took place Sept. 17 in Mason, featured 90 participants and 37 boats. According to Jason Roush, event organizer, 52 fish, totaling 665 pounds, were caught during the event.
Tournament participants competed for the top five places as well as the Big Cat Award. Proving victorious were Nick Anderson and Willie Smith, who finished first. Anderson and Smith brought in five fish with a total weight of 91 pounds. Second place went to Shawn VanMeter, Jack VanMeter and Croc Camp, who brought in five fish weighing a total of 90.5 pounds. Taking the third place spot were Jordon Roush and Rob Hopkins. Roush and Hopkins brought in two large fish weighing a total of 58.8 pounds. Fourth place went to the team of Todd Anderson, Kelly Harrah and Jim Hoyt, who brought in three fish weighing 57.6 pounds. Rounding out the competition in fifth place, was the team of Rick Evans, RJ Ross and John Campbell, who brought in five fish weighing a total of 46.8 pounds.
Anderson and Smith also were victorious as they caught the biggest fish of the day, which weighed 40.7 pounds, to win the Big Cat Award.
According to Roush, the Bend Area C.A.R.E. organization congratulated all contestants who took part in this years event.
All proceeds generated from the tournament will benefit C.A.R.E.s Kids for Christmas Program, which helps area children in need.
