Mable Louise Amerson, 89, of Barton Chapel Road, Apple Grove, went home to be with the Lord following an extended illness on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 at Pleasant Valley Hospital.

She was born Oct. 27, 1921 in Calledonia, Ohio to Robert and Hallie Young Plants. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Society Hill, SC where she was saved and baptized. After moving back to Apple Grove, she attended Barton Chapel Church. Throughout her lifetime she worked at various manufacturing plants in West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, where she lived the majority of her life before moving back to West Virginia in 1999.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Woodrow Amerson; one daughter, Hilda Ann Lowery, and four grandchildren: Robin Cunningham, Casey Wray, James & Gene Wray; two brothers: George Franklin “Whitey” Plants and Charles R. Plants.

Survivors include two daughters: Wilma Whittington of Leon and Evelyn Harper of Mineral Wells; one son, Gene Wray of Leon; five brothers, Walter Plants & Forrest “Dick” Plants of Somerset, Ky., Jim & Noah “Boots” Plants of Apple Grove and Rick Plants of Troy, Ohio; five sisters, Alma McConnell of Loraine, Ohio, Violet Chapman of Logan, Ohio, Emma Long of Apple Grove, Dorothy Coleman & Doris Lanzotti of Troy, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.

Special thanks to the staff of Pleasant Valley Nursing Facility, Dr. Curtis Pack, Dr. Robert Tayengco, the nursing staff of Pleasant Valley Hospital, and a special-special thanks to her granddaughter, Jeanette Beck, Loretta Plants, Teresa Ratliff, and Bodie Stapleton.

Viewing will be held Saturday evening, Oct. 22, 2011 from 6-8 p.m., at the Deal Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Barton Chapel Church Cemetery, Apple Grove with Rev. Ronnie Long officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
